Lunch and Learn: Fueling with Fruits & Vegetables

Another successful Lunch and Learn took place in the Clubhouse at the Springfield Masonic Community. Over 60 people enjoyed another educational topic, Fueling with Fruits and Vegetables.  Ali Schulze, Director of Healthy Living, YMCA of Greater Dayton was the presenter.

Fueling with fruits and vegetables can provide many health benefits. Fruits and vegetables provide antioxidants, vitamins minerals and fiber.  They can assist with reducing inflammation in your body, and are a powerhouse of nutrients that we can enjoy eating every day.

Did you know that only one in ten Americans eat enough fruits and vegetables every day?  Be wary of dried fruit because they’re higher in sugar. Try to eat fruits and vegetables that are in a variety of colors.

As the event was coming to a close, you could hear some excellent comments on the speaker such as “She was articulate and provided excellent information.” Linda Arledge, who was attending her second Lunch and Learn shared, “We always learn something new when we come to the Lunch and Learn.”
