Meet Diane, Registered Nurse (RN)

A True Super Star

At Western Reserve Masonic Community, (WRMC) our employees are super stars! We recently sat down with Diane, a registered nurse so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Western Reserve Masonic Community. Meet Diane, a Western Reserve Masonic Community Super Star!

How long have you worked at Western Reserve Masonic Community?

I have enjoyed working at WRMC for nearly three years. I’ve lived my whole life in or near Medina. I raised two daughters here and fostered children as well. I’m excited to have guardianship of a beautiful young lady that my husband and are eager to adopt as soon as the courts give us the okay. I am here to stay in Medina and at Western Reserve Masonic Community

What makes Western Reserve Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

I started working in the medical profession when I was still in high school. I worked as a medical assistant, an LPN, and am currently an RN. This was a personal career goal that I was determined to meet. Over the years, I have worked in other communities and there is no comparison. There are facilities that simply don’t care about their residents. I quickly knew that wasn’t the place for me.

At WRMC, you have a warm, homey feeling, not a stuffy, hospital feeling. There are amenities for everyone to enjoy, regardless of their level of care. Western Reserve Masonic Community makes me want to get up every day and come to work.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

My responsibilities are virtually the same each day. I start my day by assessing my residents to determine if there have been changes since the previous day. I see that medications are given at the appropriate times. I work with the physicians to determine if their care plan needs to be changed.

I keep in close contact with their family members, so they always feel that they are in the loop on their loved one’s care. Every day, without question, I take time to talk to each of my residents to see if there is something bothering them, or if there is something that they want to discuss. The best part of the day is hearing about their memories. It’s a great way to learn more about our residents and what makes them happy and feeling loved.

What are some of your favorite benefits Western Reserve Masonic Community offers?

When some people think about benefits, their first thoughts are usually financial. My thoughts go in a completely different direction. My benefits are personal. I love to sit down and get to know our residents. I want to hear about their history and learn about their families. Simply said, I want to learn what makes them tick and how to keep them happy.

What would you tell a prospective employee about Western Reserve Masonic Community?

Our staff works well together. Our management is very supportive to each of us professionally and personally. You won’t find this kind of work environment everywhere.

This is an easy question. The residents are the main reason I love working at Western Reserve Masonic Community. No matter how the day is going, they always make me laugh. They are so “sweet”, and you just feel good when you see their smiles and know that you brightened their day.
