Meet Lizzie, State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

A True Super Star

At Springfield Masonic Community, our employees are super stars! We recently sat down with Lizzie, a State Tested Nursing Assistant, so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Springfield Masonic Community. Meet Lizzie, a Springfield Masonic Community Super Star!

How long have you worked at Springfield Masonic Community?

I started working at Springfield Masonic Community on November 22, 1999. I enjoy my job and I plan to retire from here when the time comes.  I have spent so many years of my adult life working here.  I have gotten to know so many people.  I really enjoy working with an older population.

What makes Springfield Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

I enjoy the challenges of working here. Our residents have different needs, so it gives me the opportunity to keep my skills sharp.  Our STNA staff enjoy 12-hour shifts.  You can get in an entire week of work in three days and even pick up an extra day if you choose.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

I work with our residents on activities of daily living.  These include getting ready for meals, feeding, bathing (showers), dressing as well as transferring a resident from sitting to getting into bed, basically changing positions to help keep them safe.

I also accompany patients to doctor appointments. I enjoy meeting with the family members of our residents. I learn more about our residents and their lives before they moved to Springfield Masonic Community.

What are some of your favorite benefits Springfield Masonic Community offers?

You should know that being an STNA is not an easy job, but it is a rewarding job. You work as a team and your co-workers are always there to help you. Knowing that you have support makes each day easier and more enjoyable.

What would you tell a prospective employee about Springfield Masonic Community?

I would tell them to give it a try.  You will work hard, but you will be supported by your team of co-workers.  You will also have a chance for advancement if that is the path you choose.

Why do you love working at Springfield Masonic Community?

I love the residents as well as my co-workers. When you work here as long as I have, you get to know everyone.  That makes every day special and a place that makes you enjoy getting up and coming to work.
