Meet Jennifer, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

A True Super Star

At Springfield Masonic Community, our employees are super stars! We recently sat down with Jennifer, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Springfield Masonic Community. (SMC) Meet Jennifer, a Springfield Masonic Community Super Star!

How long have you worked at Springfield Masonic Community?

I have worked at SMC for 3 years. My story is a bit different than some of my co-workers. I have four daughters ranging in ages from 17 to 7 years old. Among these four girls is a set of twins. I was working on my RN when our family was in a serious car accident. I was one class away from having my degree.

All of these circumstances may have slowed me down with my degree but they didn’t stop my drive to finish. I’m in school at Clarke State University and I will be finishing very soon. I’m looking forward to working more years as an RN here at SMC.

What makes Springfield Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

This is an easy question. It’s the core group of people at SMC. We care about our community members and we always put them first. We want to make sure their lives are fulfilling. During the pandemic when there were no visits, we gladly became their extended families. We really wanted to keep their spirits up the best way we knew how.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

I have oversight of community member care as well as the oversight of the staff members. I make a point of visiting our community member in assisted living every day. I work on the floor as needed. I help to comfort community members and their families. I want to make sure that every day is the best day possible for all of our community members.

What are some of your favorite benefits Springfield Masonic Community offers?

My favorite benefit is the tuition assistance program. As an example, you can advance from a resident assistant to an STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) with no out-of-pocket cost. With the cost of education today, this is an exciting benefit.

Springfield Masonic Community believes in showing their appreciation for all employees. They plan special events just to say thanks and that they care about each of us and our families. You won’t find that everywhere you work.

What would you tell a prospective employee about Springfield Masonic Community?

Take a good look at us and you will understand why you will enjoy working at Springfield Masonic Community. You will have many good days thanks to the community members and your co-workers.

You have the opportunities for advancement if you choose. The support you will receive is outstanding. See for yourself. Come join our team.

Why do you love working at Springfield Masonic Community?

Every day is special because of the community members that I spend my days with. I love learning about them and hearing their stories. At SMC you are part of a team that always has your back. You are not just a number. Our leadership knows our names and cares about us as “people” not just as an employee. Having a supervisor that you can turn to with a question or for guidance is invaluable. Thanks Carrie Wooten!
