Meet Heather, Life Enrichment Coach

A True SuperStar

At Browning Masonic Community (BMC), our employees are Superstars! We recently sat down with Heather, Life Enrichment Coach, so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Browning Masonic Community. Meet Heather, a Browning Masonic Community Superstar!

How long have you worked at Browning Masonic Community?

I am one of the newest members of the BMC staff.  I have been here just over a month, and it already feels like home.  I have three daughters, ages ranging from 10-15.  Two of my girls have already visited BMC and have enjoyed visiting with our residents. They enjoy the residents and are excited to come back whenever possible.

What makes Browning Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

BMC is the only senior living job I have ever worked in because I wasn’t sure there would be something that I could do.  I can compare Browning Masonic Community to other jobs and volunteer opportunities I have had, and I can tell you what I like about being at BMC.  I get to do activities with our residents. We look at every day as a “giant party!”  I want the residents to have fun and enjoy each day to the fullest.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

I work in the Pathways Memory Support Neighborhood. One of my goals was to motivate our residents to participate in more of the daily activities, and I feel like I am meeting that goal.  I want everyone, including me, to create memories and have fun.

Some of the activities that I do with our residents include different forms of artwork such as drawing and a variety of crafts. We go fishing right here on the BMC campus. When we have good weather, everyone enjoys taking golf cart rides. We also do religious reading as well as cardio-drumming. I want to make sure there is something for everyone. Sometimes we change the schedule if that makes the day better for our residents. As you can see, I get to spend much of my time having fun, and I am always looking for new and different activities.

What are some of your favorite benefits Browning Masonic Community offers?

I have several benefits that make BMC a great place to work.  Flexibility is important to me.  I have three girls and if I get a call from school that one of them is not feeling well, I can pick them up on my lunch break.  I live very close to work and school.

I love the team that I work with. They are kind-hearted, compassionate people. The work we do is gratifying. I help to make someone’s day and that’s bigger than myself.  It makes every day special. I enjoy getting up and coming to work at Browning Masonic Community.

What would you tell a prospective employee about Browning Masonic Community?

Do it!  Come to work at BMC.  You won’t regret it.  The pay and the benefits are good.  One thing to consider is the educational benefits. You can get up $5,000 per year toward your education.  That’s a fantastic benefit that you can’t find everywhere.

Why do you love working at Browning Masonic Community?

I love working at Browning Masonic Community because everyone cares about the residents. This is an exceptional workplace due to the morals and values of the people I work with. I feel like I am accomplishing something special with my life.
