At Springfield Masonic Community (SMC), our employees are superstars! Meet Mary, Human Resources Generalist at Springfield Masonic Community! We recently sat down with Mary so she could share her story and the success she’s had working in senior living.
How long have you worked at Springfield Masonic Community?
I am fairly new to SMC – I began here in February 2024. I’m from Tipp City and have a degree in Human Resources from Franklin University. For three years, I worked as a Human Resources Assistant before coming to Springfield Masonic Community.
What makes Springfield Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?
I love the positive attitude at SMC. Everyone, staff and residents were so positive when I started. I knew I made the right decision and I love to see the smiles on everyone. It makes you want to get up in the morning when you enjoy coming to work. You just don’t find this atmosphere in all workplaces.
What do your daily responsibilities include?
I have a variety of responsibilities including employee relations such as technology, understanding their benefits, working with supervisors, and recruiting for our dietary department.
I really enjoy working with our new hires for their onboarding. It’s nice knowing that I have done everything possible to give each of them a good start.
What are some of your favorite benefits Springfield Masonic Community offers?
The Sandwich Shop on campus! I love getting ice cream there! On a serious note, I think the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is very special. I am proud to work at a community that cares so much about its employees. The EAP is a free, confidential program for life’s challenges.
What would you tell a prospective employee about Springfield Masonic Community?
I would tell them that the Springfield Masonic Community is a great place to work. My co-workers are positive and supportive. Training when you begin is excellent. The orientation and onboarding will see that you are well prepared to do your job. Relias Trainings that you do regularly keep your skills sharp.
Why do you love working at Springfield Masonic Community?
I feel happy when I arrive to work at SMC. This is a beautiful campus and that sets the perfect tone for me every day. I feel comfortable and I know I have the support of my co-workers. Even though I have only been here a few months, I have gotten to know some of the residents and I’m excited to meet and get to know even more of them. It’s simply the perfect environment for me.
