FAQs about Assisted Living
Are pets allowed?
Absolutely! We know furry friends are part of the family, and we love welcoming them into the community. Western Reserve Masonic Community even has a pet committee! Our general rule of thumb is that you or your loved one must be able to take care of the pet themselves or have someone who helps take care of it, like a dog walker. If you have specific questions about our pet policy, we’re happy to answer them.
What care is included?
Assisted living is all about providing you or your loved one with support for activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). ADLs include bathing, using the bathroom, getting dressed, eating, and transferring. IADLs include managing medication, preparing meals, paying bills, and cleaning. In assisted living, you or your loved one can receive assistance with some or all of these daily activities depending on your individual needs.
What’s included in the cost?
Our monthly fee covers the cost of the private apartment, all utilities including phone and cable TV, housekeeping, laundry, meals, and care provided by a nurse or nursing assistant. The other services we offer, such as for hearing aids, glasses, dental care, and foot care are available to residents but are not included in the monthly fee. Those services can frequently be covered by health insurance. The beauty salon is also not included in the monthly fee, but we can connect you with our stylist so you can learn more about the services they provide, their costs, and scheduling appointments for your loved one.
Is a long-term lease or contract required?
We know you or your loved one will love living here, but we understand life happens and sometimes things change. We want you or your loved one to have the freedom and flexibility to do what’s best for you and your family, so we just require 30-day notice if you need to move.
What are your payment options?
Most of our residents are private pay. If you have questions about Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, or long-term care insurance, give us a call. We can explain our pricing more in-depth and connect you with people and resources to answer your questions.
Do I or my loved one have to be Masonic?
No, Western Reserve Masonic Community is open to the public regardless of being Masonic or not. During the application process, we’ll ask about any Masonic affiliations, but we don’t use that information to decide if you’re eligible to live here.
