The Masonic Volunteer Program connects caring individuals with meaningful opportunities to support Masons, Eastern Stars, and others in their local communities. Working alongside our Community Outreach Coordinators, volunteers help extend the reach of The Ohio Masonic Communities Resource Center by identifying needs, offering practical support, and connecting individuals to helpful resources. The program includes more than 400 volunteers, with active committees in 22 of Ohio’s 25 Masonic districts.
How Volunteers Make a Difference
Our volunteers serve as the eyes and ears of the community, often recognizing needs before they become larger concerns. They may make referrals, check in with older members, provide transportation, and assist with everyday tasks that support safety and independence.
Volunteer support may include:
- Calling or visiting widows, widowers, and homebound individuals
- Providing rides to appointments, shopping, or Lodge and Chapter events
- Helping with yard work, light home maintenance, errands, or meal delivery
- Offering companionship through visits, calls, or shared activities
- Making referrals when additional support is needed
Often, the most meaningful support is simply having someone to talk to.
A Flexible Way to Serve
As a volunteer, you can be as active as you choose. Some volunteers offer occasional support, while others take on a more involved role within their district committee. No matter how you serve, your time and care can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
Our Masonic Volunteer Program also works closely with other resource center efforts, including bereavement outreach and broader community support. This partnership allows volunteers not only to identify needs, but also to help respond in practical and compassionate ways.
