A Day in the Life at Springfield Masonic Community: Mother’s Day Luncheon
Join us for a day in the life at Springfield Masonic Community (SMC). We celebrated Mother’s Day for all of the mothers on the campus. This year nearly 50 ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Community Center. The tables were set with beautiful tea service. The staff worked hard to make this meal special for all the mothers.
While enjoying lunch some of the ladies were discussing the origin of Mother’s Day. Did you know that the official Mother’s Day holiday arose in the 1900s as a result of the efforts of Anna Jarvis, daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis? Following her mother’s 1905 death, Anna Jarvis conceived of Mother’s Day as a way of honoring the sacrifices mothers made for their children.
Each year, let’s celebrate the wonders of all the mothers we have the privilege of knowing and loving. Let’s make every day Mother’s Day.
