A True Superstar
At Western Reserve Masonic Community, (WRMC) our employees are superstars! We recently sat down with Sue, the Director of Life Enrichment for Assisted Living as well as the Healthcare Center and Memory Support, so she could share her story and the success she has had at Western Reserve Masonic Community. Meet Sue, a Western Reserve Masonic Community Superstar!
How long have you worked at Western Reserve Masonic Community?
I have worked at WRMC for 12 years. I started as an activity assistant and have progressed to my current position. I love what I do and coming to work every day. I plan to be here for years to come.
In order to ensure I’m giving my all to our residents, I have furthered my education by getting my Activity Professional Certificate and my Activity Director Certificate.
What makes Western Reserve Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?
This question makes me laugh. I did work at another community, but not for pay. When I was a little girl, I volunteered in a senior living community with my mother doing life enrichment activities! I loved going with my her, and here I am today, working in life enrichment.
I have three children and two grandchildren, and they know how much WRMC means to me and my passion for life enrichment.
What do your daily responsibilities include?
Each day my goal is to make our residents feel happy and safe. Life enrichment isn’t all fun and playing games. There’s a great deal of record keeping along with all the fun activities we do with our residents. I plan activities and programs and develop new activities.
Since I cover different care areas, I plan activities that meet the needs of everyone. I want to guarantee our residents that there truly is something for everyone at WRMC.
What are some of your favorite benefits Western Reserve Masonic Community offers?
I’m a person that likes to help others. I help facilitate the HOPE program which stands for Helping Our People Every day. HOPE is designed to help people who are in need of financial assistance due to an emergency.
Sometimes we just need a helping hand and that’s the purpose of the program. Our employees are family, and we believe in helping our family.
What would you tell a prospective employee about Western Reserve Masonic Community?
WRMC feels like home. The relationships that you will make with your co-workers and the residents makes each day special. There are times that we are the only “family” that our residents have. You will enjoy their stories and learn so much from our residents. I believe in the need to continue learning, and you never stop learning at WRMC.
Why do you love working at Western Reserve Masonic Community?
A very simple answer, the residents. I want to make sure their needs are being met to the best of my ability. Everyone is different and that’s what makes each of them so special. They make me smile, each for a different reason. Each of our residents makes me a better person.
