Springfield Masonic Community Expansion

In December 2025, Springfield Masonic Community welcomed community members, employees, and people from across Ohio to celebrate a huge milestone. Our $64 million dollar expansion featuring a new assisted living neighborhood, healthcare center, and memory support neighborhood began. The assisted living neighborhood will include 104 apartments, with 24 designated for our Pathways Memory Support Neighborhood. The healthcare center will offer 72 private suites, evenly divided between long-term care and short-term rehabilitation.

Planning and Development

Planning had been underway for quite some time, with early improvements already completed. These included a new parking garage in the fall of 2025, Community Center updates, and an additional elevator in the Scottish Rite independent living apartments.

Before construction could begin, the first major step toward the new buildings required demolition of a multi-story vacant building and several villas, totaling approximately 75,000 square feet. Utilities were relocated, including gas, electric, and water lines. The first basement walls were built in late July 2026, along with excavating 50,000 yards of dirt for the building pad and pond excavation.

Scott Buchanan, CEO of The Ohio Masonic Communities, shared, “We are very excited to be starting the next phase of our Capital Campaign with the groundbreaking for our new healthcare center that will host a state-of-the-art skilled nursing center, modern assisted living area, and the addition of an assisted living memory support neighborhood. This repositioning makes us more efficient and effective at delivering the care and outcomes we are known for.”

The Capital Campaign

This expansion is the first phase of vision and beginning of a broader strategy from The Ohio Masonic Communities Foundation’s Capital Campaign. Our goal is to create spaces that strengthen the resident experience for generations to come. As Ohio’s older adult population grows, modern senior living communities will require environments designed for advanced clinical services, memory care, technology integration, and meaningful resident experiences.

Springfield Masonic Community is where our campaign begins to take shape. This project represents the largest expansion and repositioning effort in the history of The Ohio Masonic Communities. The design reflects how people will live, work, move, and receive services. Spaces are planned around resident needs, staff workflows, mobility, technology, and specialized dementia programming.
