Campus Updates at Western Reserve Masonic Community
Please read the following campus updates at Western Reserve Masonic Community! Keep an eye out for upcoming changes to our community.
On Wednesday 9/2/20 we tested 195 WRMC employees and vendors all tests have returned with the exception of one which was unable to be tested due to an issue that took place during transfer. All tests but 1 returned negative. A WRMC employee who works in our dining services department tested positive for COVID-19. The team member was and continues to be without any signs or symptoms of COVID. This is a newer employee who has only worked in Independent Living doing room deliveries. Following CDC guidelines this employee has been off work since the test returned positive and will remain off work for 10 days from the day the sample was collected.
The employee wore their mask while working at all times. Due to the nature of their job, there is a very low risk of possible spread of COVID-19. The parameters for self-quarantine for those who are potentially exposed to a person with COVID are being within 6ft of a person for more than 15 minutes at a time. At no point in time did this employee spend 15 minutes within 6ft of any residents or other employees.
The dining department will continue to follow all appropriate sanitation protocols. All staff, residents, and visitors will continue to be screened at the gatehouse for signs of COVID-19.
Independent Living residents should continue to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19, which includes fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Should you experience these symptoms you should contact your health care provider.
We were informed by a Hospice Vendor today that one of our residents in Skilled Nursing was exposed to one of their team members who later tested positive for COVID. This single resident and their family have already been informed of their exposure. Our team in skilled nursing is now wearing N95 masks along with face shields. A COVID test has been ordered for this resident.
We will continue to follow our Pandemic Plan in accordance with CDC and Health Department guidance.
We will continue to test all of our employees every two weeks as part of the State of Ohio’s National Guard Testing program for Skilled Nursing facilities. Our next testing day is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 9/16/20.
Should you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me directly,
Sincerely,
Jason French, Administrator
