Campus Updates at Western Reserve Masonic Community

Please read the following campus updates at Western Reserve Masonic Community! Keep an eye out for upcoming changes to our community.

I am sending you this message today to let you know that two staff members have shown signs and symptoms of COVID‑19. We tested both individuals using a rapid response antigen COVID test.

One test returned positive, and the other came back inconclusive. As a result, per our pandemic plan, each care area is now under quarantine. Residents in our care areas are not permitted to leave their rooms during quarantine. At this time, we expect this to last 14 days, but it could be extended depending on future testing results.

Moving forward, we will continue to monitor all areas closely and communicate any changes as soon as they occur.

Campus Updates

The two staff members had been wearing a surgical mask and face shield while working. They primarily worked in Skilled Nursing; however, one also worked a shift in both Traditional Assisted Living and Memory Care during the period when they may have been contagious.

As a next step, we will test Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Memory Care residents using rapid response testing on‑site. Results are available within 15 minutes of sampling. Any positive results will be confirmed through PCR testing with a contracted vendor.

As a result, all residents in Traditional Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing must remain in their apartments until further notice. We have closed the fire doors at the end of each hallway and placed appropriate signage. In Memory Care, staff will work together to keep residents socially distanced as best as possible.

Additionally, all outdoor and window visits for Traditional Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing are cancelled until further notice. Life Enrichment will contact families to set up FaceTime or Zoom calls for residents in those areas. Memory Care will continue with scheduled window visits.

Finally, for Independent Living, we will close the café, beauty shop, gym, wood shop, and in‑person Sunday dining until further notice.

Plan Updates

As you know, we have had a Pandemic Plan in place since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic to ensure the safety and health of all staff and community members. We will continue to comply with CDC guidelines and protocols to minimize exposure for staff members, community members, and clients.

Our staff working in care areas are now wearing N95 masks, face shields, gowns, and facility‑provided scrubs.

Moreover, our team has been resilient and has stepped up to this challenge in the past. I know our dedicated team members will do what is necessary to provide the best care possible to our community members. Together, we will get through this.

Sincerely,
Jason French – Administrator
