Meet Heather, Receptionist at Western Reserve Masonic Community!

At Western Reserve Masonic Community (WRMC), our employees are super stars! Meet Heather, Receptionist at Western Reserve Masonic Community. We recently sat down withHeather so she could share her story and the success she’s had working in senior living.

How long have you worked at Western Reserve Masonic Community?

I have worked as an evening receptionist for 2 years this July. I went to high school at Medina High School and remained in the area after graduation. I married and have a wonderful daughter, which is why working at WRMC is a so good for my family. I work three days a week and my husband can stay at home with our daughter in the evening.

What makes Western Reserve Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

I can’t tell you what makes WRMC different from other senior living communities. I have never worked at another community, but I can definitely tell you why I like working here. Community members are not just a number at WRMC. They are family and are cared for with compassion. Our community members’ families are also shown the same level of care and compassion.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

I have a variety of responsibilities. I answer the phones and set the tone for the call based on my approach to the caller. The same holds true for people entering our lobby. I am the first person they meet, so I treat our guests the way I would want to be treated. If an alarm sounds, I assist as needed and with 911 calls too.

As the dinner time ends, and we move into the evening, there are less people coming and going through the lobby. This gives me the opportunity to assist our community members that come to the desk. Spending time with our community members makes every day special for me.

Above and beyond my receptionist responsibilities, I help out with tasks from the business office and special projects. I enjoy the added responsibilities and appreciate their trust in my abilities to complete these tasks.

What are some of your favorite benefits Western Reserve Masonic Community offers?

Different employees will have a wide variety of favorite benefits. For me the flexibility with my hours is my greatest benefit. I have the opportunity to stay at home with my daughter during the day, and that means everything to me.

The opportunities that has been given to me to work on special projects is another personal benefit. By doing these projects, I have the opportunity to learn more about Western Reserve Masonic Community. I want to learn all that I can. I want to continue to grow and advance at WRMC.

What would you tell a prospective applicant about Western Reserve Masonic Community?

I love my job and the people I work with. WRMC is a fantastic place to work! You need to check it out. The atmosphere is family friendly, not just for our community members, but for the employees. Every day I know I am cared for as is my family. An example, on July 4th I will be attending the WRMC fireworks with my family. You don’t find this level of caring at all jobs!

Why do you love working at Western Reserve Masonic Community?

There are so many reasons. Many of them I have already shared, but the most special reason is our community members. When I am able to make someone smile or make their lives easier, that’s all the reason I need for working here. I helped a lady with a large box that was delivered for her. The contents were small and the box was too large to carry, so we opened the box, removed the contents and I found a small bag that she was easily able to carry to her apartment. Something that simple made her day so much easier and put a smile on her face.

Sometimes it’s an unexpected compliment. I assist our community members, and that’s what I enjoy doing. No one here is looking for a compliment, however our community members frequently share their thanks and gratitude. One of our community members shared
