Springfield Masonic Community Partnered with United Senior Services
Sometimes life just doesn’t go the way you plan. For 23 people living in Hugh Taylor Apartments in Springfield
that was the case on February 10th. A fire broke out in the high rise apartment building and some of the residents lost everything except for the clothes on their backs. Springfield Masonic Community partnered with United Senior Services to help with local community outreach.
Springfield Masonic Community (SMC) is an active part of the greater Springfield community. The city of Springfield has always been there to support SMC for over 125 years. Today was an example of how SMC gave back to the residents of Springfield.
SMC has a partnership with the United Senior Services. When they were tasked to help with locating housing and furniture, Springfield Masonic Community stepped up to help. Over 30 pieces of furniture ranging from couches to recliners were donated. There were tables for the kitchen as well as end tables and lamps to help these Springfield residents get back on their feet. The Springfield Masonic Community members are hopeful that these donations will help brighten a very dark time in these people’s lives.
