Golfing for a Great Cause

For The Ohio Masonic Communities Foundation, a golf outing like The Grand Duke’s Golf Classic is not just kicking back and hitting a few rounds out on the green. It’s a time to come together and give back to a great cause like memory support. Each year individual golfers and sponsors set up foursomes to participate in this golf outing. Besides the enjoyment of playing golf on a beautiful June day at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club in Powell, Ohio, money is raised for our memory support programs to aid our community members that face the cognitive challenges that come from having Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This year Over $100,000 was raised for memory support!

Aiding Our Memory Support Neighborhoods

Western Reserve Masonic Community (WRMC), Springfield Masonic Community (SMC), and Browning Masonic Community (BMC), have Pathways Memory Support Neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are our unique communities that focus on senior adults with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.  Private rooms give each resident their personal space with memories of their past displayed to help connect with the realities of today. Along with a licensed memory support program and advanced technology, we see our memory support neighborhoods thrive.

Boosting Our Memory Support Programs

From Cara’s kennel, robotic pet companions such as cats and dogs that are cuddly and make realistic sounds, to life stations that help people reconnect to their hobbies, jobs and self, the proceeds from the golf outing makes these programs even more special. In February, The Ohio Masonic Communities brought a music therapist onto their staff. Our community members are enjoying the benefits of having a music therapist as part of their clinical team.
